Even though you know that the Thran will be decimated and Yawgmoth will live, the book isn’t completely predictable and nothing seems inevitable. It’s also a great history of Dominaria, cataloging the first war and cataclysm suffered by the multiverse shaping the conflict in multiple different cycles.

Yawgmoth then has Glacian brought to the Caves of the Damned, which, the artificer discovers, are now sterile laboratories where the sick are experimented on, instead of damp caves where they are left to rot. Those who have played during those times is goign to find this right up their alley.

Feb 02, Brandon rated it it was amazing. Great plot for a fantasy novel, anyone can read it not just fans of mtg. Hte King is the best, which is not to say that any of the others are bad, but his I feel like his writing transcends what may people may consider a gimmick to make a quick buck.

In other words, he names it Phyrexia. After managing to win the Battle of Megheddon Defile by using the Null Sphere, he drops a stonechargerthe magical equivalent of a nuclear warhead, on the fallen army.

With it, and the Halcyte Guard, he manages to stop the invasion and bully Gix into complete obedience. This book is an awesome mgaic of fantasy story-telling.
