Aza is branded faifest the dangerous relative of an ogre because of her figure and strong powerful voice and imprisoned, but she escapes with Ivi’s guard Uju, who later tells her that he was ordered by Ivi to kill her, but could not now that she is beautiful. Plus-size princess turns leader in spiritually tinged tale. Her family hides her away in the tavern not really, she acts like a fool if anyone sees her and most people don’t seem to care and or know her until a Duchess needs Aza to accompany her to the royal wedding.
I’m really glad I did! Aza looks different from everyone around her and considers herself to be ugly. The kingdom of Ayortha, the setting of the story, is the neighboring kingdom of Kyrria, where Ella Enchanted was set and the story makes several allusions to the faurest work.
I also felt no connection to Ijori, Ivi, Areida, or many of the main characters; the character I enjoyed the most was probably zhamH. Small things like this could be overlooked if she had some mental or personality characteristic I could identify with or get to like.
I really enjoyed Ella Enchantedso I had rather high expectations for Fairest. Jan 20, Rachel M rated it really liked it. Not recommended for younger readers because of romance view spoiler [including quite gial bit of premarital kissing hide spoiler ] and thematic magic including “spells” and potions.
Although the romance wasn’t as realistic as the one between Ella and Char, it was really sweet and view spoiler [I loved Prince Ijori even more when I discovered his very first opinions of Aza hide carsob ]. There is something so deeply satisfying about falling in love with a book and the I wanted to start this off with “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, because that really is the underlying theme of the book. Oh, now I see how this all links together!

I really appreciate that the main character in this story is smart, kind,and hardworking, even if she is preoccupied with being pretty. Poisoning by apple also threatens death. Though she does not learn who her biological parents were, cardon manages to find out that they are distant relatives through a mutual great-great-great grandmother.

The story is set in the same enchanted universe as Ella Enchantedand halfway through, the reader realizes that this one is loosely based on the Snow White story or at least the one I learned thanks to Walt Disney. This is my fav book! Thank you for your support. A creature lives in the mirror, giving the queen poor advice on running the kingdom while the king is ill. The writing is repetitive, and I loathed all the songs. It was delightful to experience a similar setting to Ella Enchanted view spoiler [ Areida was the main character’s younger sister!
He loved Aza for who she was despite her “ugly” appearance, and even when she turned herself beautiful, he liked her better the way she was before because that was the real her.
I just didn’t have the energy to completely finish a book I knew I was going to be lukewarm about. I often found myself forgetting I was even reading the story of snow white because I was swept up so much in the story itself. The characters, I had a hard time coping with. There is something so deeply satisfying about falling in love with a book and the world inside that book and then discovering that there are more books by the same author also set in the faairest world. She had the makings of a great book, but I’m thinking that deadlines kept her from flushing away the weeds that seemed to crop in all around her Aza wants to be beautiful.
